Symposium on child refugee crisis held on Dec 3

The Center for Equity Promotion and the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics will be holding a symposium titled Running from Peril, Chasing Hope: Central American Children and the Refugee Crisis to discuss the child refugee crisis facing Central American children in the United States.

“The U.S. government has detained more than 57,000 unaccompanied Central American children along the U.S./Mexico border. In most cases, these children are escaping the dangers they face in their homelands due to gang violence (including forced recruitment) and the drug trafficking crisis. The aim of this small, focused symposium is to bring together UO scholars, external experts and leaders who are uniquely positioned to enhance the national dialogue and generate nonpartisan solutions.” Follow this link for more information:

The symposium will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014 at the Ford Alumni Center in Eugene  and  co-hosted by Dan Tichenor, Philip H. Knight chair of social science and senior scholar at the Morse Center. He is an oft-cited expert and author on U.S. immigration policy and politics.
